I received an email from one of our club members entitled "Bad Day".  To paraphrase what was said, after decades of hunting, he recently took a load of #5 shot from about 40 yards.  We are very happy to report he is OK!  Fortunately, he had on brush pants, and a heavy hunting jacket which stopped most of the shot; just hurt and stung like heck.  He did, however, have a piece of shot lodged under his chin and one in his left arm; the shot came in the open end of his sleeve lodging in the underside of his arm about 3/4 of the way to the elbow.  One piece was way to close for comfort......a non-penetrating piece at the hairline above his left eye.

When out chasing roosters, please remember to know where everyone in your hunting party is!  Also, don't let the excitement of a rooster flushing allow common sense to go by the way side.  Have fun, be safe, and remember, "Shoot the blue!"
